Thursday, August 18th: The Diversity Festival is CANCELED!
The Diversity Festival is canceled. However, the bands scheduled to play The Black Cadillacs, Plain Clothes Tracy, and Jay Clark will still play in the Pedestrian Walkway tonight. WUTK will keep you updated and let you know as the information becomes available when the Diversity Festival will be rescheduled.
The Office of Student Activities in conjunction with CarniVOL presents the INVOLVEMENT FAIR AND DIVERSITY FESTIVAL this Thursday, August 18th from 3 to 7 PM at Pedestrian Walkway on the UT Campus. As part of the “Ready for the World” initiative, UT’s Diversity Festival promotes knowledge of international culture and social issues as well as highlighting the campus Civility Campaign: One Campus; One Community; Celebrating the Differences.
Meet students and staff from dozens of campus organizations, get free food and giveaways from area businesses and enjoy live entertainment, too! Events at this year’s Diversity Festival include live music performances from The Black Cadillacs, Plainclothes Tracy, and Jay Clark; step and salsa performances, a martial arts demonstration, and food and information booths from various campus organizations and local retailers including Rita's Italian Ice, SalsaKnox Dance Company, Alumni Hall, EarthFare, 3 Spoons and Mellow Mushroom.
The 2011 Diversity Festival was made possible by a grant established for the university's "Ready For the World" initiative, written and submitted by a group of graduate students and faculty in the College of Social Work. The Diversity Festival wishes to thank the Office of Student Activities, TeamVols, BSSW-SWO, WUTK, The College of Nursing, Alpha Phi Alpha, Zeta Tau Alpha, Ballroom Mania Club, Photography Club, Plainclothes Tracy, The Black Cadillacs, Jay Clark, and the many other campus organizations, local businesses, and volunteers who helped to make this event possible.
