The HAITIAN PEDAGOGY INSTITUTE presents “Lyrics for Learning,” a live concert and silent auction this Saturday, February 26th  beginning at 6 PM at The Birdhouse, located at 800 North 4th Avenue. 

The non-profit HAITIAN PEDAGOGY INSTITUTE'S mission is to build community sustainable secondary schools for the children of Jacmel, Haiti, in order to provide a place for students to obtain the education necessary for college admission, currently unavailable in their country.

Hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and adult beverages will be offered and a silent auction from 6 to 8 will feature items from the Knoxville Ice Bears, Salon Azure, Moe’s, and other local merchants, as well as merchandise from the bands performing.  A live music line-up featuring Ben Maney, The Great, Great Pines, Archaic Smile, Stigma Strain, Johnson Swingtet, Clockwork Wizards, and the Knox County Jug Stompers will begin at 8:30 and continue throughout the night. Donations will be taken at the door, with all of the evening’s proceeds going to purchase the land for HPI’s very first school.
