Enjoy Every Sandwich
90.3 The Rock invites you to Enjoy Every Sandwich: An Evening of Warren Zevon for Rikki Hall at Scruffy City Music Hall in Market Square Thursday, March 20th at 7 p.m.
The last time Warren Zevon appeared on the David Letterman Show, the musical master of dark tales and picaresque adventures was close to death from mesothelioma. Asked for some parting advice, Zevon’s laconic reply was: “Enjoy every sandwich.”
Our friend Rikki Hall, a naturalist, environmental activist and Metro Pulse columnist, was diagnosed with a brain tumor about a year and a half ago. It recently was determined to be inoperable.
Hall is someone who could sing an entire Violent Femmes’ album around a campfire one night and take you on a woods walk the next day and identify every bug and bird. He talked up—perhaps not entirely as a joke—redrawing state borders based on major river watersheds. It figures the longtime Rockford and South Knox County resident would want proceeds from this event to benefit the Little River Watershed Association.
Celebrating both Warren Zevon and Rikki Hall with an evening of macabre, hilarious and heart-breaking songs will be Tim Lee 3, The French, Kevin Abernathy, and many more.
So join 90.3 The Rock at Scruffy City Music Hall for a tribute to Warren Zevon and Rikki Hall. Cover is $5 at the door. For more info and a full lineup, check out the event's Facebook page.
