About The Black Lillies:
Born in the rumbling cab of a stone truck and aged in the oak of Tennessee's smoky night haunts, The Black Lillies have come to the forefront of the Americana scene in little more than a year. Founded by multi instrumentalist and vocalist Cruz Contreras. The Black Lillies have created their own unique brand of country, roots, rock and blues via Appalachia. The group, formed in 2008, also includes electric guitar and pedal steel whiz Tom Pryor and drummer Jamie Cook, both formerly of the everybodyfields. Bassist Robert Richards and vocalist Trisha Gene Brady round out the lineup.
In April 2009, The Black Lillies released Whiskey Angel, their debut recording, which was recorded live in Cruz’s living room. The album received rave reviews and appeared on multiple “Best of 2009” lists across the country. The band is currently working on their follow-up album, 100 Miles of Wreckage, which will be released at the January 22 performance. The Black Lillies have developed their own style of Americana music in true East Tennessee fashion. They may not fit any industry norm, but where they come from, that's a good thing.
About The New Familiars:
For Years now, North Carolina's The New Familiars have been touring & playing their own style of American Rock & Roll wherever and whenever they can. Drawing from the vast influences that they've collected throughout their collective careers, this quartet has shaped a sound that combines the nitty-gritty roots music of the Appalachia with guitar-drenched-drum-driven anthems of Rock & Roll. Through collective songwriting, howling harmonies, & multi-instrumental talent, their show can take you from a back porch hoe-down to a full on rock show at the change of an instrument.
Having played hundreds of shows from the sunny beaches of FL to the bustling cities of MA and from the Smokies to the Rockies, these gentlemen have seen some miles and have some stories. On an almost constant state of tour, they have managed to release a few EPs, a VINYL single, and are currently on tour with their NEW LIVE ALBUM; all the while continuing work on a full length album. Look for them to be playing somewhere near you soon
